About Rectangle Atlas: Shikaku
Rectangle Atlas presents Shikaku as a grid-partition puzzle. Cover every square with non-overlapping rectangles, each holding one clue equal to its area. Play twelve uniquely solvable boards at each size: 6×6, 8×8 and 10×10. Drag corners, select them with two taps or work from the keyboard. Hint places one solution rectangle when your existing shapes are correct. The UTC daily selection draws from the twelve Medium boards and can repeat. Unfinished games and up to 60 undo states are saved in this browser. This game has no cloud-save adapter.

How to play
Select a difficulty and Play. Drag from one corner to the opposite corner, or choose the corners with two taps. The rectangle must contain exactly one clue and match its area. Activate a placed shape to remove it. Cover the grid without overlaps or gaps.
Rules in this version
- Each rectangle contains exactly one clue.
- Its area in squares equals that clue’s number.
- Rectangles stay within the grid, never overlap and leave no gaps.
- Factor pairs give candidate shapes: a 6 can be 1×6, 2×3, 3×2 or 6×1 when the space and other clues allow it.
Tips for playing
- List a clue’s factor pairs before placing it. Nearby clues often rule out all but one orientation.
- Look at the spaces left behind, not just the rectangle you are about to draw.
Questions about this game
Does the clue measure area or perimeter?
Area. A 2×3 rectangle covers six squares, so it fits a clue of 6.
Do hints count toward best times?
A game using a hint does not set a new best time. Completed puzzles and daily progress are still counted locally.
