ABOUT THE GAME
About Spades
Play Spades as South with a computer partner in North against computer opponents in East and West. Each hand has thirteen tricks. Bid how many you expect to win, then follow the led suit whenever you can. In the classic game, the leading team wins after reaching at least 500 points.
How to play
Choose a bid from 0 to 13 before the hand. A zero bid is Nil: try not to take any tricks. On your turn, select an available card. Follow the led suit if you can; a spade beats cards of other suits. Finish thirteen tricks to score the hand.
Rules in this version
- South and North form one team; West and East form the other. Each hand has thirteen tricks.
- You must follow the led suit when able. Spades cannot lead until broken unless only spades remain.
- A team meeting its bid scores ten points per bid trick plus one per overtrick; missing a bid loses ten per bid trick. Nil scores +100 without a trick or −100 after taking one. Ten accumulated overtricks cost 100 points.
Tips for playing
- Count likely high-card winners and spades before bidding; Nil tricks still count toward the team total.
