About Peg Solitaire

Peg Solitaire turns a simple jump into a planning problem. Begin with the centre hole empty, jump over neighbouring pegs and keep the board connected as pieces disappear. Clearing the four arms is only part of the job: a perfect finish leaves the last peg in the centre. Try a shorter daily position, rewind an unfinished attempt with Undo or highlight a legal move when you need a starting point. Saved games and results stay in this browser; this edition does not sync its puzzle saves to your account.

How to play

Choose a peg, then an empty hole two positions away in the same row or column. The hole between them must contain a peg, which your jump removes. Work toward one peg in the centre. Play ends when no legal jumps remain, with your remaining peg count shown in the result.

Rules in this version

Classic starts with 32 pegs and an empty centre.
Jump exactly one adjacent peg horizontally or vertically, never diagonally.
Land in an empty hole and remove the jumped peg.
One peg in the centre is a perfect win. A lone peg elsewhere is shown as a close finish.
There is no timer. Undo is unavailable after a completed game.

Tips for playing

Keep an exit route for pegs near the ends of the board.
Think about how you will bring a peg back into the centre before emptying it.
Hints show legal jumps rather than a guaranteed winning sequence. Undo lets you test alternatives.
