About Nurikabe: Islands & Sea
Nurikabe asks you to divide a grid into numbered islands and a connected sea. An island contains exactly its printed number of squares, while the sea must never fill a 2×2 block. Choose from 36 uniquely solvable boards: eighteen 5×5 puzzles and eighteen 6×6. Check reviews marked cells and Hint reveals one correction. Unfinished progress stays in this browser, together with up to 200 new undo changes. A daily selection uses your device calendar and can repeat boards. This edition saves progress locally and has no cloud-save adapter.

How to play
Choose New game, select a size and board, then Start. Cycle unnumbered squares into sea or island. Numbered squares already belong to their islands. Fill every remaining square while keeping islands separate and the sea connected. Use Check to review your current marks or Hint to reveal one cell.
Rules in this version
- Each island contains one number and exactly that many squares, including the clue square.
- Separate islands must not share an edge; diagonal contact is allowed.
- Every sea square connects to the others through shared edges.
- No 2×2 square may consist entirely of sea. Mark every unnumbered square to finish.
Tips for playing
- Surround a completed island with sea before extending other islands.
- A narrow sea passage can matter more than a large island: avoid cutting the water into separate regions.
Questions about this game
Can islands touch diagonally?
Yes. The separation rule forbids shared edges, not shared corners.
Is the best time restricted to unassisted puzzles?
No. Nurikabe records its best active time including games finished with hints. Hint use is counted separately.
