A 6×6 strategy duel: capture stones and leave your opponent without a legal jump.

ABOUT THE GAME

About Kōnane

Kōnane is a Hawaiian strategy game about preserving your ability to move. This modern 6×6 edition begins with alternating black and white stones. After the two opening removals, every turn requires a jump that captures an opposing stone. You may chain captures in one direction, but clearing a row can also open opportunities for your opponent. The player who cannot jump loses. Choose from three computer difficulties, share a device with a friend, or practice the fixed challenge against the Expert computer. An interactive lesson introduces the opening and first capture. Local saving, mouse, keyboard and touch controls, adjustable sound, and eleven in-game languages are included. Hints and undo support learning; assisted and restored games are excluded from competitive candidacy.

How to play

Black removes a highlighted corner or center stone. White removes an adjacent stone. Select your stone, then a marked landing space to jump over and capture an opposing stone. A farther destination chains captures in the same direction. You may stop at an earlier landing space. No diagonals, turns within a jump sequence, or moves without captures. If you cannot jump on your turn, you lose. Captures do not score points.
