About Halma
A useful bridge in Halma belongs to neither player: either colour can leap over it. Race all 19 of your pieces into the opposite corner while leaving routes open for the pieces at the back. This edition plays on the square 16 × 16 board, with three computer levels and a two-player mode for sharing one device. Medium and Hard plan around separate destination squares rather than chasing a single corner; Hard also considers a following move. Hints suggest legal moves, while Undo lets you revisit recent unfinished turns. Piece and destination selectors make precise moves possible on narrow screens. Your ongoing game and results remain local to this browser.
How to play
Choose one of your pieces, then a highlighted destination. On a narrow screen, use the piece and destination lists beneath the board and press Move. Fill the opposite camp with all 19 pieces before your opponent.
Rules in this version
- Two players start with 19 pieces each on the square 16 × 16 board. Coral goes first.
- Take one step into an empty neighbouring square in any of eight directions.
- Alternatively, jump an adjacent piece of either colour into the empty square immediately beyond it. Chain jumps or stop at a legal intermediate landing.
- There are no captures. A piece that enters its destination camp cannot leave it.
- Fill the opposite 19-square camp to win. This edition has no forced-eviction rule for opposing pieces.
Tips for playing
- Leave stepping stones for pieces still far from the destination.
- Count destinations rather than simply moving every piece toward the same corner.
- Hints propose legal moves, not a guaranteed winning plan.
