About Brazilian Draughts
Brazilian Draughts places twelve pieces per side on an 8×8 board, with backward captures, flying kings and compulsory maximum capture. Choose three computer levels or share the device. Native hints highlight a legal sequence, undo revisits turns and local continuation survives a reload. The Beta keeps the classic movement and capture rules, but does not implement special reduced-material draw adjudications. This game has no cloud-save adapter.
How to play
Open New game, select a mode and difficulty, then Start. White moves first. A hint can select a piece; activate the marked landing and finish every jump. Captured pieces stay until the turn ends. Promotion occurs only when the complete turn finishes on the far rank, without gaining king powers midway through a chain.
Rules in this version
- Twelve men each on dark squares of 8×8. Ordinary steps go forward; captures may go backward.
- Capture is compulsory and must take the maximum number of pieces. Kings have no capture priority.
- Kings fly diagonally. Captured pieces remain obstacles until the chain ends. Promotion uses the final landing square.
- No pieces or legal move loses. This edition draws on threefold repetition or thirty capture-free king-only half-moves. Special reduced-material adjudications and tournament procedures are not implemented.
Tips for playing
- Check backward jumps before ruling out a blocked man. Its best move may be behind it.
- Keep captured pieces in your mental position until the chain ends; they still block flying-king diagonals.
Questions about this game
How is this different from International Draughts?
Brazilian Draughts uses twelve pieces and 8×8 instead of twenty and 10×10. Both require maximum capture and flying kings; this Beta does not include all reduced-ending adjudications.
Does the game retain unfinished matches?
Yes, locally in this browser. This version also keeps up to forty newly played undo turns; the older version saved its position without undo history.
