About Samurai Sudoku
Samurai Sudoku spreads a single puzzle across five 9×9 grids. Four shared 3×3 boxes connect the corners to the center, leaving 369 distinct playable cells. An overlap entry must satisfy the units in both grids. Twelve uniquely solvable base boards provide four starting layouts per difficulty, with digit permutations and symmetries adding variation. The daily selection is derived from your local date and uses Medium material. Use notes to track candidates, hints to reveal a cell, and saved undo to backtrack after reloading. On narrow screens, a scrollable board and zoom preserve readable cells; keyboard selection follows into view. Progress stays in this browser and has no cloud-save adapter.

How to play
Choose a difficulty, select an editable square and enter 1–9. Treat the four overlap boxes as bridges: information from a corner grid constrains the middle one. Notes toggle candidates without changing an entry. Hint reveals a cell and marks it separately. Pan or zoom the large board as needed, then complete all five grids.
Rules in this version
- Every row, column and 3×3 box in each grid contains digits 1–9 exactly once.
- A shared box belongs to the center and one corner grid, so its entries obey both sets of units.
- Given and hint-revealed cells cannot be edited directly; undo can reverse a hint during active play.
- There is no time limit or loss state. Difficulty changes the starting clues rather than grid size.
Tips for playing
- Use a nearly complete corner box to constrain the matching rows or columns in the center.
- For an overlap square, inspect peers from both grids before committing a candidate.
Questions about this game
Are the games generated from unlimited independent layouts?
This version uses twelve base boards and transforms them with symmetries and digit permutations. Daily and regular selections can revisit related layouts.
Can I undo a revealed hint?
Yes, while the game is active and that move remains in the available history. Using a hint still excludes the game from the new hint-free best-time record.
